JAY / Box Prototype

This is the final outcome for the cereal packaging for the children. I wanted to do quite minimalistic, but strong design. I do not know any child who does not love sharks, especially when they are animated and cute. There are only a few things I would really change and that is maybe the colour, because I think it is too blue at some places. But I could say it was a very good experience, because I always wanted to make some packaging design especially for children.

SARA / Hand drawn image sequences

I was always thinking how designers are doing this kind of style and I wanted to learn it. Finally the time has come. I was very interested in this tutorial because I found very necessary for my future projects. First of all, we needed to draw the same picture three times that it could have a little moving, after this we needed to put on the after effects and then magic started to happen.

NICK / second development

This was the second part of the production workshop with Nick. This is the final outcome form the Nicks' process and production lesson. I decided to do different type and do more experimentation.This project did not go for me very well. I was stuck a little bit. For very long time I was searching for the right type to process. I was trying to make as many experimentations as I can to make this work better.

JAY / Box Design

When I come with the final outcome on sketches, I transferred everything into illustrator. After this I chose appropriate colours and typography style to fit my cereal box.

SARA / Rotoscoping composition

For this rotoscoping lesson we needed to choose very short video and background. If we wanted background could have been drawn by ourselves. Video was chosen very carefully, because I wanted to develop the idea of child dreams and how life for little person is so easy and full of new things to perceive. For this little work we used the mask layer and the pen tool to cut out a moving object from a video. After this, we needed our 2 seconds loop make bigger to 10 seconds. That is why it looks like never ending movement.

As I mentioned before, I drew background by myself, and have put into working place. Background I chose with boats, because that it would made better effect for the main idea.

JAY / Character Sketch

CEREAL PACKAGING FOR CHILDREN

First of all, in our the first process and production lesson we were asked to create and experiment with different characters. Firstly, I was thinking of many various characters which can be liked by children. Bees, bears or birds are quite worn thing. That is why I thought that will be great to try experiment with sharks. Sharks are very scary things, but when it comes to illustration they become very cute and nice creatures.

After long and hard experimentation I came with an idea to make nerdy, but intelligent looking shark, which you can see in the scanned drawing. After creation of the character we were asked to think about title name and its design. I had in mind , using the shark, to create title: sharkie's nibbles. It is simple, understandable for children. Children love sharks, especially when it goes with cereals.

Sharkie's nibbles title DESIGN

After experimentation, I decided to do very hand drawn title which will have wood texture on it. It will help the title to have ocean feeling.

After creating the title, we needed to create a design for packaging itself and decide where title or drawing will go. That is my drawn outcome. I was thinking to do (the first drawing)like where is cereal see there will be transparent paper that it would have feeling that shark just swims on the cereal.

SARA / Motion Loops, the Wiggler, Expressions/ A moving image portrait

We were asked to create a man with illustrator. Every part of man which we wanted to be moving should have been in different layers. As nowadays hipsters are very fashionable creatures, therefore, I decided to draw ginger guy with moustaches and pipe ( because it is so hipster ) .

the first experimentation did not make me happy:

Some shortcuts from the lesson:
t = transparency
p = position
r = rotation
s = scale
a = anchor point
u =  to show key frames

This video I wanted to make very simple , without many movements. The best decision was to make pipe which would have smokes coming out of it. After making some movements, I chose three different textures for different parts of the animation and overlay it on certain layers using Track Alpha Matte. And that is final outcome with some still typography ( A gentleman is simply a patient wolf).

NICK / I am

In our first PROCESS AND PRODUCTION class meeting we were asked to create typography using a sentence I AM THE// BOMB. For this project I chose little bubbles from cupcake baking, it looked like gun parts, that is why I thought about I am bomb. It can sound quite ironical and funny (as my personality).
