TYPOGRAPHY BOOKS

A few days ago I went to the library to take some books about typography. I found it very interesting and useful for my projects and free time experimentation. The first book was very interesting because of various typography styles starting from hand writing and finishing with digital 3D. After this I created a few types by myself :

39 DAY SOFT TYPE

Social media campaign. The idea was to create one type style  in a day. I started with numbers and it was really fun and creative time spending. I added just a few experimentations to show how it works. Being part of the campaign helped me to improve my digital skills and creativity.  I enjoyed it so much.

HASHTAG CV VIDEO from Gerda Ziogelyte on Vimeo.

This piece of work was different. I recently got an email with a challenging task.

"The budget for the campaign is zero but you are told you can be as creative as you like. The sole aim of the campaign is to attract new customers to sign up to use our awesome CV Builder and the measure will be the number of customers who create an account. The Director is keen to see the following through your presentation:

1. That you have understood the brief, budget and time-scale.
2. You have realistically set the expectation of your campaign and covered the expected results.
3. The target audience you have chosen to approach and why.
4. The details of the campaign in length.
5. How you plan on measuring the success of the campaign.
6. Expected results of the campaign."

I needed to create a zero budget campaign which will help to improve their business. Business is about helping people to create stand-out cv with just a single and simple click. I chose to create social media campaign because that most young people are using social media websites. - it is easy way to attract them. So after brainstorming I decided to create a short and simple video which could tell about their company and a little poster. The main idea was that people who shares video or poster can have a chance to win premium CV writing.

SARA / Showreel production

SHOW REEL from Gerda Ziogelyte on Vimeo.

In this process and production class we were asked to create a showreel with all the stuff we have done in process and production classes. I have also put my other short videos to make this showreel even more interesting to watch. This process and production lesson was helpful, because it is the first time when I was doing something like this. It was a good experience in understanding how showreels need to look like. This showreel I decided to make as simple as possible because I wanted to create contrast between transitions and the videos.

JAY / C4D Bottle + can

This is the last Jay lesson for this year. I found this very useful because I always wanted to learn how to create product design and I have never thought that it can be so simple. We needed to merge a file in C4D which was created in illustrator. After this we needed to use lathe nurbs to make the full shape. After this we put background and floor with compositing setting which makes never ending clean background .

JAY / C4D Dynamics

In this Cinema4D session we had to do three different little projects. I really enjoyed this tutorial very much it was interesting and very useful to learn what can C4D do in a very fast and easy way. The first task was to create simple illusion using a square and some bubbles. Square was extended using extrude button and then added colour with reflectance method. Second part of three projects was a little bit similar, but also we learnt how to make a movement using the motext, that it would react as an object, not the text.

The last part of the session was very easy. We needed to create a combination of different size and colour using emitter technique. All in all, this tutorial was very helpful for me, because I can experiment more with C4D now.

WORKSHOP / DAY 3

I think this workshop week was the first week when I managed to go all week around. There were plenty of exciting workshops, but one I liked the most. It was Nicks workshop.  This workshop was very interesting. The idea of this stop motion was to create a face which would talk and do a little bit movement. As for this workshop have attended just a few people Nick let us to chose what part of body we want to do. I chose the right eye. This time I was doing things very fast so after an eye I created mushrooms for the random tab and typography for another random tab. I really enjoyed this workshop.  Video credits Toby Cook

UNDERPASS FOR SLAITHWAITE

We ( me, Phoebe and Beth) have decided to take part in a competition for Slaithwaite to do some group work for it. The main idea was to create design for a underpass. Therefore we took a trip there to see how it will look and what size it is. Unfortunately, I was a little bit disappointed because conditions for this place were not the best. It was very damp and wet. It would be very hard to make very professional outcome.

We had a few ideas to work with. First of all we were thinking to create illustration using Slaithwaite landscape with all roads, mills and etc. , but after seeing the place we came to the second idea which would represent underpass as a huge tank with plenty fishes. The style would be that everything look like made from paper and paint would be which are glowing in the dark. I really like that idea, but unfortunately, we over slept deadline. Happens sometimes.

NICK / FINAL TYPE

I really like Nicks workshops. They let people be creative as much as they want. For the last workshop I decided that I want to do something different from the mince. Went to shop and bought black tea ( which I really do not like it) . The first idea was to play around with tea as a drink, but it did not come as I wanted, therefore I came with the second idea using teabags. As tea bags are made with very thin paper material, I was thinking that the best outcome could be made from something that means light and freedom. Clouds and birds from teabags.

After very interesting experimentation I thought to make short stop motion video which could represent that freedom in a very simple way. During this creation of stop motion I decided to draw some pieces using my hand as it can be seen in a video.

Kami – sprits that are worshiped in the religion of Shinto. They are elements in nature, animals, creational forces in the universe, as well as spirits of the revered deceased

Yokai - supernatural monsters in Japanese folklore. The word yōkai is made up of the kanji for "bewitching; attractive; calamity" and "apparition; mystery; suspicious. ( radical continuity between the seen and the unseen worlds of the natural order combines submlime force of nature KAMI with the grotesque and absurd YOKAY.
