JAY / Character Sketch

CEREAL PACKAGING FOR CHILDREN

First of all, in our the first process and production lesson we were asked to create and experiment with different characters. Firstly, I was thinking of many various characters which can be liked by children. Bees, bears or birds are quite worn thing. That is why I thought that will be great to try experiment with sharks. Sharks are very scary things, but when it comes to illustration they become very cute and nice creatures

After long and hard experimentation I came with an idea to make nerdy, but intelligent looking shark, which you can see in the scanned drawing. After creation of the character we were asked to think about title name and its design. I had in mind , using the shark, to create title: sharkie's nibbles. It is simple, understandable for children. Children love sharks, especially when it goes with cereals.

Sharkie's nibbles title DESIGN

After experimentation, I decided to do very hand drawn title which will have wood texture on it. It will help the title to have ocean feeling.

After creating the title, we needed to create a design for packaging itself and decide where title or drawing will go. That is my drawn outcome. I was thinking to do (the first drawing)like where is cereal see there will be transparent paper that it would have feeling that shark just swims on the cereal.
